Let's welcome Manabu (pronounced Mah'nah bu) Horikawa, the new owner of Sushi Express! He is a long-time friend of Tak Hisano, founder of Sushi Express. Manabu has been in the Japanese restaurant business for 18 years. He has previously worked as a sushi chef at Mikado, Kyoto, Tepanyaki, and Sakura Sushi. When asked what he liked most about being a sushi chef, he replied that there is "no limitation on creativity." His favorite roll is the Futomaki, and all kinds of sashimi. His favorite Japanese dish is KatsuDon (Pork Cutlets over rice). His thoughtful sushi presentations remind you that sushi is truly edible art. One thing he would like to add to the Sushi Express menu is a greater selection of non-sushi Japanese entrees. Manabu invites you to "please come and explore our new items!"
More info...Manabu was born in Nagasaki, Japan. He has also lived in Gifu (Japan), California, and Utah. He enjoys Utah's peaceful and family-oriented environment. He has been married to his wife, Rie (whom you may also get a chance to meet at Sushi Express), for 11 years. They have 3 wonderful kids. In his spare time, Manabu enjoys reading history novels. His travels include Florida, Las Vegas, and California. He hopes to add Europe to his list of adventures sometime in the future!
